Protest
I characterize these paintings as personal expressions of the traumas I am experiencing in response to the political chaos in the USA today. I am deeply troubled and concerned about the extent of divisiveness, cruelty, and vindictiveness that has been normalized in our culture and society. These works are one of the ways I have found to express not only my outrage, but also deep seated fears about the future of our democracy, as well as the nature of how collaboration and civility have virtually dissappeared. These are paintings of protest and anxiety.
